Description

Key Growing Directions: Light: Full sun is ideal for maximum blooms, but they tolerate light or afternoon shade. Soil: Well-drained soil is crucial to prevent root rot; prefers slightly acidic to alkaline, nutrient-rich soil. Water: Keep consistently moist, especially for the first few weeks and during hot, dry periods. It will droop when it needs water. Spacing & Size: Space plants 24 to 36 inches apart; they grow large, often reaching 3-5 feet tall, and may need staking. Fertilizer: Feed monthly with a balanced, organic fertilizer during the growing season. Pruning: Cut back hard in early spring to encourage bushy growth. Overwintering/Containers: Can be grown in 16-18 inch pots. In cold zones (below Zone 8), bring containers indoors for the winter or treat as an annual. Propagation: Easily grown from tip cuttings in spring or fall.
