Description

Lemon cucumbers are an heirloom variety of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) known for their round, tennis-ball shape and pale-to-golden yellow skin. Despite their citrus-like appearance, they do not have a lemon flavor; instead, they offer a mild, sweet, and crispy taste often described as more delicate and less acidic than standard green cucumbers. Growing Information Growth Habit: Prolific, vigorous vining plants that can reach 6–8 feet and benefit significantly from trellising to save space and keep fruit clean. Timeline: Most varieties reach maturity in 60–70 days. Light & Soil: They require full sun (6–8 hours daily) and rich, well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Harvesting: For optimal flavor and texture, harvest when they are about the size of a lemon or tennis ball and have a pale yellow hue. If left to turn bright orange, the skin becomes tough and the seeds become large and hard.
