Description

Light: Thrives in full sun, though it can tolerate partial afternoon shade in very hot climates. Soil & Water: Prefers rich, moist, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Spacing & Potting: Space plants 12-18 inches apart in the garden. If using containers, choose a large pot (at least 12 inches deep) to accommodate its rapid growth. Pruning: Regularly pinch back tips to promote branching and prevent the plant from becoming too woody or tall. Harvesting: Harvest leaves regularly for cooking, which also encourages a bushier habit. Overwintering: It is a tropical plant that cannot handle freezing temperatures. In cold climates, grow it as an annual or bring it indoors to a sunny, warm spot for the winter. Companion Planting: Excellent companion for tomatoes, as it helps repel pests while attracting pollinators with its flowers
