Description

Growing Directions Plant 12–18 inches apart after all danger of frost has passed and soil is warm. Light: Provide 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Soil & Water: Basil requires rich, moist soil that drains well. Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks, or use a liquid fertilizer every 14 days for faster growth. Container Growing: Use a large pot to prevent soil from drying out too quickly. Care and Maintenance: Pruning & Pinching: When plants are 4–6 inches tall, pinch off the top set of leaves to encourage branching. Repeat this process once the new branches have 6–8 leaves. Harvesting: Harvest regularly to encourage growth, cutting stems just above a pair of leaves. Flowers: Pinch off flower buds immediately to prevent the leaves from becoming bitter. Temperature: Basil thrives in temperatures above 70 degrees. If temperatures drop below 50 degrees F - bring potted plants indoors.
